What is CONCENTAL®?

CONCENTAL® is an extract of Greek mountain tea, Sideritis scardica Griseb. It is a non-stimulant ingredient, developed and researched by our partner FINZELBERG, to support performance and brain health. Its action is based on a key mechanism: improving blood and oxygen supply to the brain. In 2021, CONCENTAL® won the Nutra ingredients awards in the “cognitive function” category. In regulatory terms, its preparation is described in the Belgian Royal Decree.

Study design

Effect of CONCENTAL® on cerebral efficiency and cognitive performance.

  • Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel group evaluation
  • 140 healthy volunteers (aged 50-70)
  • Acute evaluation: 1 day and after 28 days

Evaluation

  • NIRS*: Quantification of oxygenated and deoxygenated hemoglobin (HHb)

    * Near-Infrared Spectroscopy

  • COMPASS: Assess cognitive parameters (attention, accuracy, memory speed, working memory, episodic memory).

  • STAI : Evaluate different anxiety traits(mood)

NIRS: cerebral blood flow and oxygenation

CONCENTAL demonstrated an acute increase in oxygen saturation and total hemoglobin on day 1.

COMPASS:
cognition

With CONCENTAL, attention and precision in high-intensity situations have been improved.

STAI:
Anxiety

CONCENTAL significantly reduced anxiety related to stressful situations.

Detailed description

Greek mountain tea, Sideritis scardica Griseb, is an aromatic plant emblematic of the Balkan basin, notably originating in the mountainous regions of Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Northern Macedonia and Kosovo.

Used since ancient times as an infusion, it is traditionally appreciated for its aromatic properties and its role in supporting general well-being, particularly vitality and a feeling of daily comfort.

The flowering tops of Sideritis scardica are particularly rich in natural bioactive compounds:

  • Phenols and polyphenols: verbascoside, chlorogenic acid, caffeic acids – (antioxidants)
  • Flavonoids: apigenin, hypolaetin, isoscutellarein – (antioxidants and neuroprotectors)
  • Phenylethanoid glycosides: lavandulifolioside, verbascoside, echinacoside
  • Terpenoids and iridoids: contributing to its complex aromatic profile

These compounds give the plant an aromatic richness and support for general well-being, as well as interest in dietary supplement formulations designed to promote vitality and normal cognitive function.
