Detailed description
Arctium lappa burdock root comes from a perennial plant with large, heart-shaped leaves and purple flowers. Its hooked bracts are known to cling to animal fur.
Burdock has been present in various cultures for several centuries: in Asia, where it is consumed as a vegetable; in Europe, where it was commonly used by herbalists as early as the Middle Ages.
It was, and still is, renowned for its renal water elimination properties, skin health and even for soothing joint pain.
In particular, it is rich in lignans, phenolic acids and inulin, giving it antioxidant properties as well as effects on digestion and liver health, and can also help boost the immune system.
