Detailed description

Dandelion Taraxacum officinale is a perennial plant belonging to the Asteraceae family. It is now available in temperate regions throughout the world.

For food consumption, dandelion leaves can be used in salads, while the root has been used as a coffee substitute.

In traditional medicine, dandelion, and in particular its leaves, have long been used in many countries to support the normal functioning of the liver and biliary system, or to facilitate drainage.

Its biological activity is determined by complex chemical components, mainly sesquiterpenoids, phenolic compounds such as caffeic acid, essential oils, saccharides, triterpenoids and flavonoids. The latter give dandelion its antioxidant properties and help boost the immune system.
