Detailed description
Mouse-ear, Hieracium pilosella, a perennial plant in the Asteraceae family, is widespread in Europe, Asia and North Africa. It has been used for centuries in phytotherapy for its properties supporting elimination functions and digestive well-being.
The plant contains flavonoids, coumarins (notably umbelliferone and apigenin-glucoside) and phenolic acids such as chlorogenic acid. These bioactive compounds give Hawkweed antioxidant properties, helping to protect cells against free radicals.
Mouse-ear is traditionally recognized for its effects on renal fluid elimination, helping to maintain an optimal water balance. These properties are linked to its specific flavonoids and unique phytochemical profile.
Recent research has highlighted its antimicrobial potential and protective effects on tissues exposed to external aggression. Pilosella’s properties make it ideal for formulations designed to support digestive and renal functions.
