Detailed description

Desmodium adscendens, a climbing plant belonging to the Fabaceae family, is native to tropical regions of Africa and South America. This plant is traditionally used in folk medicine for its antispasmodic and soothing properties, and to ensure healthy liver function.
Desmodium leaves contain bioactive compounds such as flavonoids (vitexin and isovitexin), triterpenoid saponins and D-pinitol. Studies have shown that these components play a key role in muscle relaxation, supporting liver function and modulating certain allergic responses.
Desmodium leaves are renowned for their beneficial effects on the liver, particularly in eliminating toxins. They are also used to soothe the respiratory tract and allergic reactions, by inhibiting muscle spasms and limiting histamine release.
