Detailed description
Griffonia, Griffonia simplicifolia, a climbing plant in the Fabaceae family, is native to the tropical forests of West Africa. The seeds of this plant are rich in 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP), an amino acid which is the direct precursor of serotonin, a molecule involved in a number of physiological functions and known as the happiness hormone.
Griffonia seeds also contain fatty acids, carotenoids and phytopigments, which contribute to its functional properties. They are traditionally used in formulations to support serenity, general well-being and natural mood regulation mechanisms.
Thanks to its 5-HTP content, our Griffonia seed extract is used to support normal sleep and appetite functions. It is also known for its rich antioxidant content, which helps protect cells against oxidative stress.
